A banner that says “Aotearoa Disability Figures online launch, Thursday March 24th, 10:30 AM, virtual launch”. The banner shows the speakers of the event, Ngapera Riley (Figure.NZ CEO), Mark Sowden (Stats NZ CEO), Paula Tesoriero MNZM (Disability Rights Commissioner), Nat Dudley (Figure.NZ Chief Design Officer), and Anton Sammons (Figure.NZ data officer). It invites you to join us in kōrero on how disabled people can use this tool to advocate for our communities and make our voices heard.

Access to data about our communities can be an important tool to advocate for ourselves; amplify stories from our communities; and get critical support from funders, government, and other decision-makers. Yet to date, data on disability in Aotearoa has often been inaccessible and hard to reach for the very community it’s about.

Our team at Figure.NZ have been hard at work developing a tool so that disabled communities can easily access data about ourselves and our experiences, to support community advocacy and decision making for a more inclusive and accessible Aotearoa.

Alongside our friends at Stats NZ, we are delighted to invite you to the online launch for Aotearoa Disability Figures, a new tool to explore disability data in New Zealand!

Check it out at https://disability.figure.nz.
